Model of the car:3/4 Ton Suburban,Lt/autoride.tow Pkg
General comments:I have always been a Chevy man and still have my first one, a 1959 El Camino.I just got sick and tired of Chevy trannies blowing up on me. 4 trucks, 4 trannies and one blew twice. I am taking a big "leap of faith" going back to the Bowtie brand but the sophitication of the new Burb is light years ahead of the Fords and the new heavy duty tranny will hopefully provide good service. The turning radius is a definate plus when backing the travel trailer in and out of tight spots. I am hoping the Vortec 8100 out-pulls my Ford and will find out in June on my annual Yosemite trip.Word to the wise,,,,,,,,,No matter what you buy, if you are going to keep it, buy the extended warrenties. Here in Az. you can buy extended warrenties that refund all of the money you paid if you never file a claim.I did this on my Ford and the Burb. That is cheap insurance. And, the last time I paid for a new tranny, it was more than the extended warrenty was.
What things have gone wrong with the car:Vortec 8100 is noisy on start up and goes through a quart of oil in 2500 miles. Cheap, barely functional sub-woofer in the back. You would think that on the top of the line model they could put in a decent stereo but hey, GM keeps the aftermarket stereo business alive. If the current price of gas is a problem for you, don't buy this vehicle.
Previous car:1999 F-350 Ford Superduty,V-10, crew cab dually. The Ford is completely "unsophisticated" compared to the "burb". The ford rides like a tank and the brakes suck. Mileage is embarrassing. A
