Suburban
| | Model of the car: | Suburban | | | General comments: | Folks...terrible experience. Don't get one. Although very practical when dealing with family and towing....great on long trips, the reliability is as follows.
1. 2000 after purchase and careful break in, the rear end began to make noises like a banshee in heat. Long story short, after four differential gear sets and multiple adjustments, they replaced the entire rear end. All under warranty of course but you don't get a comparable car as a loaner and I guarantee you the staff at the local dealer were short....I guess I would be too if all I saw during the day was disgruntled customers!
2. Brakes are another matter. Even using them very conservatively, you cannot expect more than 15,000 miles from them. Definately under designed.
3. Fuel pump....are you ready?? $700 and change to have it replaced including parts. Mine went out at 65,000 miles. The repair shop told me that the oem units go out well before 75,000. However the replacement pumps go for more than twice this before they fail. I feel taken by Chevy.
4. Numerous little nagging stuff. Door locks that don't unlock or lock above 65 degrees. Burned out right rear light cluster which caries three bulbs. You heard me right...three bulbs. The piece, (are you sitting) was $175 plus labor!!! I have never heard of the bulb socket going bad....but the dealer service bunch said.."yeah, they sometimes go out on these". Not very comforting.
Don't american car manufacturers recognize why people go to foreign (read that Japanese) manufactured stuff?? I have owned four chevys and each was worst than the previous one...sad. I guess it's true that man is the only animal that trips over the same rock more than once. I've tripped over the last one. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | The rest. | | | Previous car: | Chevy Astro Van
