Chev Suburban 2x4 1/2 Ton, 350 Engine

Model of the car:Chev Suburban 2x4 1/2 Ton, 350 Engine
General comments:List of repairs over 240,000 miles: One radiator, 4 waterpumps, 2 mufflers, one starter, 2 transmission overhauls (one was reallyneeded, the other was after 140,000 miles on the transmission...just thought it was about time for an overhaul,) one set of lower ball joints, one idler arm, one alternator, and one set of shocks. I did have to replace the head gaskets, since one of them simply rusted out and leaked engine coolant. All they did was remove the heads, replace the gaskets, and button it back up. Other than that, the engine has never been touched. I still get 16-18 miles per gallon on average, it starts easily everytime, and has never left me stranded. Granted, I change oil every 3k, all belts and hoses every 2-3 years, and tinker with it on a regular basis, but shouldn't we all take care of our vehicles like that? Anyway, it isn't pretty anymore, but I'd still take the thing cross country on a minute's notice. One day it will surely just die, like the car in the first Blues Brothers movie, but until then, I'll keep on driving it. I just bought a 99 2x4 halfton suburban with the 350 engine. I can only hope that this one is even partially as reliable as the 87.
What things have gone wrong with the car:Rust. I live on a gravel, dirt road, in an area that uses lots of salt during the winter months, and that has taken its toll on the rocker panels and the body behind the rear wheels. The rear "barn doors" have some rust around the rubber for the glass, too. I'm not complaining...240,000 miles is not too bad for the amount of rust present. Also, the water pump has gone out 4 times. I can change the pump in about an hour now, with so much practice.
 Previous car:none
