GM Introduces 2006 Chevrolet Suburban

01/05/2006

Chevrolet Suburban
The all-new 2007 Suburban is Chevy's flagship SUV and is built on GM's brand-new full-size SUV platform, which combines advanced fuel-saving technologies like Active Fuel Management(TM) displacement on demand technology and aerodynamic enhancements to provide best-in-class fuel economy. The 2007 Suburban, which will go on sale in the US in the second quarter of 2006, is capable of hauling more passengers and cargo than any other vehicle in the segment. Suburban also features a 360-degree safety system of occupant protection and crash-avoidance technology.

At start of production, Suburban will be equipped with an efficient 5.3L V-8 with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management(TM) technology, delivering 320 horsepower (238 kW) and 470 Nm of torque. Later, a new 6.0L V-8 with variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management will be available. Some versions of the 5.3L V-8 are capable of running on any combination of conventional gasoline and ethanol (E85); in fact, GM is an industry leader in the development and sales of E85-capable vehicles.
